Candles & Bulbs
One of the most important elements of a chandelier are the candles and bulbs. The desired aesthetics must be balanced with the required level of illumination.
Most chandeliers and light fittings can be wired with either standard or miniature lampholders.
Standard lampholders are either bayonet or Edison screw, each of these types come in standard or small sizes. To keep the size of the candle sleeve as small as possible, small sizes are normally used i.e. small bayonet cap (SBC) or small Edison screw (SES). Standard candle bulbs for these are easily available and inexpensive. These lamps and bulbs require a cylindrical decorative sleeve and are available plain or with drip effects. The most expensive versions are specially coated to look and feel like real wax.
The tall tapered nylon candles are specially manufactured with a miniature E10 lampholder permanently fitted inside. These candles and bulbs are more expensive and are available only in limited sizes and outputs.
The special decorative bulbs are more expensive than standard versions but are available to fit standard lampholders.
