Towards the end of the 18th century, English chandelier design began to take a more slender and elegant form. The influence of architect Robert Adam can be seen in the introduction of the Greek urn shape that appeared in his interior and exterior designs.
One of the finest original Adam style chandeliers to have survived can today be found at Kingston Lacy, the National Trust property in Dorset. The chandelier lay in boxes in the cellars for over 40 years, their contents and value unknown. Wilkinson's carefully restored and reconstructed the chandelier in the early 1980s.
