Continental Styles

Wilkinson's are able manufacture and supply chandeliers of all shapes, sizes and styles from around the world. The Flemish or Dutch style chandelier first appeared in the 16th century. This reproduction made in brass has 15 lights on two tiers.

The Venetian style of chandelier has changed little over the centuries. The chandelier illustrated is an antique version typical of the 18th century. Wilkinson's are also one of the only companies specialising in the restoration of Venetian chandeliers. Broken or missing items are either matched from their large stocks or specially ordered from the glasshouses of Murano.



The French cage style chandelier is typical of the 18th and 19th century. Brass or bronze frames were dressed originally with rock crystal (quartz) and then later with less expensive glass drops. The reproduction chandelier illustrated has 16 lights on two tiers with a polished brass frame.

The Empire period (1795-1830) coincided approximately with the Regency period in England. A popular feature was brass or bronze castings finished in gilt and contrasting black. The reproduction chandelier illustrated has 10 lights.

Bohemian crystal chandeliers have been produced since the 1720's. Wilkinson's sell a range of Bohemian chandeliers that represent excellent value for money. Each chandelier is dressed with the finest quality Austrian Swarovski Strass full lead crystal pear drops and buttons. Illustrated is the WG1 chandelier for 5 lights.
