An important marked mid 19th century 6 branch Colza chandelier by Messenger & Son of Birmingham. Originally for colza oil, converted to gas in late 19th century and then to electricity in the 20th century. 6 lampholders concealed by reproduction hand cut and etched glass lotus shades. A near identical chandelier from Lowther Castle was sold at Christie's London in 1998. Height 152cm, diameter 107cm
