Victorian Styles

By the mid 1800's English chandelier design became more ornate and decorative. One of the most prolific manufacturers of this time was Messrs. Perry & Co. Many of Perry's chandeliers have survived and are greatly sought after. Wilkinson's can faithfully recreate many of their most popular designs and illustrated here are three examples.

Some chandeliers produced during the mid to late 1800's continued with the style created in the Regency period. Whereas the earlier versions featured decorative metal frames dressed with crystal buttons, the metalwork was now silverplated and designed to be concealed within the crystal. The tent and waterfall style allowed the chandelier manufacturer to experiment with different and sometimes stunning shapes of pendant drops. Prisms, alberts, coffins, rule drops and drumsticks could be used to create new and interesting variations. The chandelier illustrated is tent and waterfall style for 12 lights dressed in albert drops.
